Special Butterflys and Bees

One thing that has been something really special to my family is that after my Grandpa and uncle died two butterfly's were always around us for special occasions with our family. beach trips,Cookouts and Holidays they were always there. A yellow one and a white one. we have always said that's my grandpa and my uncle there to remind us that they are always going to be there with us throughout the rest of our life. A couple of years ago when Ravon Burroughs (Anita Burroughs-Mabe)s dad died unexpectedly, a HUGE white great Pyrenees started following Anita around through out walnut cove,It sat in the same spot as her dad at the local barber shop and even followed her car when she drove through. Automatically Anita remembered what we had said and then decided that it was her dad telling her that he was there, and always would be.she preceded to take it home and take care of it till its owner came back and got it a couple of weeks later. i can remember her saying that it acted just like her dad, and laughed at it alot. Late Sunday night as my mom sat in a hospital room with so many of Anita friends as she laid there sleeping my mom gently went up to her and whispered in her ear, when you come back i want you to be a bumble bee.Your a fighter and a worker, the "Queen" bee. My mom,Me,Calli and Anita were supposed to take a special trip up on the Sauratown Mountain sometime when Anita got out of the hospital but she never did.Today my mom and Calli decided to go up on top just to look at the beautiful mountain tops and amazing scenery. As my mom and Calli stepped onto the top a bumble bee went buzzing pass my moms face and buzzed all around Calli, Immediately Calli started swatting at it like most people would do, as my mom screamed STOP STOP its your Mom!! Calli stop immediately and looked at my mom and said WHAT?? HA HA. My mom began to tell her the story that she and Anita had a long time ago, For the remainder of the trip the bumble bee buzzed around Calli while she stood on top of the mountain. I have NO doubt in my Mind that it was Anita showing her love to her AMAZING daughter. I think that this was exactly what Calli needed to let her know that her mom will always be there no matter what. I thought i would share such a special story to everyone that loved anita!Love always,Laura

A Special Angel

Today we lost one of the most inspiring and amazing woman i have ever met in my life. Anita Mabe, has been battling cancer for many years and today this horrible disease has taken her from us. She was such a fighter,Not only was she a fighter she was a amazing wife, mother, sister, daughter and most important a GREAT friend. My mom and Anita grew up together so i knew today would be especially hard on her and everyone else that Anita has met throughout the years. Anita was the director at Burroughs funeral home for many many years and pretty much took over when her father passed away. All the families that Anita has helped are coming together and trying to now comfort her family just like she did with all of us. We all loved Anita and we LOVE her family. She will be greatly missed and of course NEVER forgotten. We Love you So much Calli,Colby and Anthony and the rest of the Mabe/Burroughs Family.

Love always.

God works in SO many ways!

Hey!!
I just wanted to update the status on my Grandmas cancer. all I can say is WOW at the power of prayer! So my grandma and my mom traveled to Duke University medical center two days ago to find out the status of my grandmas cancer, according to her doctor here at home she potentially had it in both lungs it was fast spreading and she needed to go to Duke ASAP. Well the doctor at Duke took different test and told her that her cancer is still the same as it was when she came 2 months ago. Still very small in one of her lungs and that as of right now it was doing no harm unless it got bigger. So was this doctor who has been practicing for many many years wrong or was it the healing power of god? i guess only god can answer that question but thank you SOOOOOO much for the prayers that you did send to her and our family we appreciate them!!

Now that all that scary stuff is over, I want to get back to my CRAZY but wonderful life.
Next week I will start my new job!! so I'm sure that will bring along many funny stories!!
Talk to you soon!!!
Love always,
Laura!

The Beginning

So after reading Brooke and Jamie's blogs I have decided to start my own.I love Brooke's it usually has stuff to do with things that are funny or what her crazy weekend plans are,Jamie's is about real life issues that should be brought to peoples attention or just about the life of Jamie and Patrick. Mine however will be about both ha ha.As most of you know my family is VERY close, and we always have been. So when one thing happens to a family member it happens to us all.

My grandma has just been recently diagnosed with Lung cancer for the second time. To her life goes on,its just something that happens and we will deal with it as it goes on.But to the rest of us its not that simple. Cancer to me is a ugly and scary word that has been taking my family members every couple of years. I know its not just me, but so many people around me are dealing with the same issues. knowing that something that seems so small can take something so precious away from us is the worst feeling in the world. so that being said i would like to dedicate this blog to my amazing grandma and talk about her a little bit.

Starting out with my name, Laura. My grandmas name is Laura Inez Brown,so the day I was born I had a special piece of her that I will never lose. As I got older I realized what a amazing woman she was with four kids, seven grandchildren and a husband who worked as contractor, she always catered to everyone Else's needs before hers. She has had so many different things happen to her but somehow she is still as strong as she has ever been.

Most people that know my grandma love her. But most of them know her by her amazing apple pies and biscuits or her crazy but most of the time true poems that she writes. She will tell you home remedies and take the fire out when you get burned. She will also hem pants, sew dresses, and make you beautiful jewelry if you ask, pretty much she is the Jill of all trades. my grandma will be 82 on June 17Th her birthday and is still as "high on life" as she says.

Tomorrow will be either the most exciting day or one of the worst days of our entire life as my grandma goes to Duke medical hospital to get the status of her Cancer. i know she has many many people praying for her but tonight i ask that everyone reading this give a VERY VERY special prayer to the most amazing woman in my family.

Cant wait to post about more of my Crazy but Wonderful life!!
Love always,
Laura
